Sign-in security

QRForge protects your account in several ways. Some work automatically. Others are actions you can take.

What QRForge does automatically

Verified email addresses Every account must confirm its email address before it can be used. See Create your account and sign in.

Strong passwords Passwords must be at least 12 characters long.

Automatic sign-out after inactivity If you do nothing in QRForge for 30 minutes, you are signed out. Two minutes before, you see "You'll be signed out in 2 minutes due to inactivity". Click Stay signed in to continue. Activity in any QRForge tab counts, so working in one tab keeps the others signed in too.

A maximum session length You are signed out 12 hours after you signed in, even if you are active. Then you sign in again.

After an automatic sign-out, the sign-in screen tells you why, for example "You were signed out due to inactivity. Please sign in again." or "Your session has expired. Please sign in again."

Tip: save your work regularly. Changes that were not saved are lost when you are signed out.

Sign out of every device

Use this if you signed in on a shared or lost computer or phone, or if you think someone else knows your password.

  1. In the left menu, click Settings.
  2. Click Sign out everywhere.
  3. In Sign out of all devices?, click Sign Out.

All sessions on all devices end, including this one. Sign in again where you need to.

Changing your password signs you out

After you change your password, you are asked to sign in again with the new password. See Change your email or password.

If you think your account is not safe

  1. Change your password in Settings → Change Password. If you cannot sign in, use Forgot password? on the sign-in screen.
  2. Click Sign out everywhere.
  3. If you use the API, revoke your API keys and create new ones. See Manage API keys.
  4. Check your QR codes in My QRs: are the destinations still correct?
  5. Contact support and tell us what happened.

Good habits

  • Use a password manager and a unique password for QRForge.
  • Sign out on shared computers: Settings → Sign out.
  • Be careful with emails asking you to sign in. QRForge emails link to qrforge.link addresses. When in doubt, type app.qrforge.link yourself.
  • Never share your password or API keys by email or chat. QRForge support will never ask for your password.

Troubleshooting

I keep getting signed out

  • After 30 minutes without activity this is expected.
  • After 12 hours this is expected.
  • If you are signed out much sooner, someone may have used Sign out everywhere, or your password was changed. If that was not you, reset your password and contact support.

"Could not sign out other devices. Please try again." Check your internet connection and try again.

"Signed out of all devices" You, or someone with access to your account, used Sign out everywhere. Sign in again. If it was not you, change your password.
