Scan analytics explained
QRForge counts every scan of your QR codes. The Analytics page shows these numbers for one QR code at a time.
Important: analytics are updated once a day. Today's scans appear tomorrow. See Why today's numbers aren't shown yet.
Open the Analytics page
- In My QRs, click View analytics on a code's row, or
- in Projects, click View project analytics, then pick a code in Select QR code….
The Dashboard also shows your Top QR Codes in the current project.
Choose what to look at
- Select project… and Select QR code… — the code to analyse.
- Date range — click it to choose the period. The label shows how much history your plan covers, for example Date Range · 1-year history.
- Compare — turn on Compare to the previous period to see the change against the period just before.
- Filters — narrow the numbers by Country, Device or Source. Click Clear filters to remove them.
- Refresh charts — reload the numbers.
The summary numbers
- Total Scans — how many times the code was scanned in the period.
- Success Rate — the share of scans where the visitor reached the content. Scans that ended on a "no longer active", "expired" or "scan limit" page are not successful.
- Top Country — where most scans came from.
- Peak Hour — the hour of the day with the most scans, in UTC.
The charts
- Scan Trend — scans per day over the period.
- Success Rate — successful scans over time.
- Countries — scans by country. Click See all for the full list.
- Hourly Profile · UTC — scans by hour of the day, in UTC (not your local time).
- Devices — scans by type of device and system.
- Referrers — where the visit came from when the code's link was opened from another page, for example a website. Most real scans have no referrer.
- Period Comparison — this period against the previous one, when Compare is on.
Where the data comes from
- Country and city are estimated from the visitor's internet address, without sending it to anyone else. They can be wrong for visitors on mobile networks or VPNs.
- Scans by bots and link-preview robots are left out where QRForge can recognise them.
- QRForge does not identify people. A scan is not a person: one person can scan the same code several times.
Export your data (CSV)
On the Pro plan (1 export per day), Agency (5 exports per day) and Enterprise (unlimited):
- On the Analytics page, click Export CSV.
- In Export Analytics Data, choose the date range.
- Click Export Data. You see "Export started — it will appear under Recent exports when it is ready."
- When it is ready, click Download under Recent exports.
The export contains daily scan statistics. The daily limit resets at midnight UTC. A download link works for 7 days.
How far back can I look?
| Plan | History |
|---|---|
| No active plan | 30 days |
| Pro | 365 days (1 year) |
| Agency | 730 days (2 years) |
| Enterprise | 3 years |
Without a filter, Total Scans, Scan Trend, Success Rate, Countries, Devices and Referrers cover your plan's whole history. They come from the daily totals, which QRForge keeps for 3 years on every plan.
A few views need the individual scan records, which are kept for 540 days. They cover a shorter period, whatever your plan:
- Hourly Profile — the last 90 days of the range at most.
- Any chart while a filter is on (Country, Device or Source) — the last 400 days of the range at most.
When a chart shows less than the range you picked, a note under it says which days it shows, for example "Hourly Profile: showing 2026-08-01 – 2026-10-29 only; this view covers at most 90 days."
Troubleshooting
"No scans in this period"
- Did you scan the code today? Total Scans and Scan Trend show today's scans tomorrow. Countries, Devices and the Hourly Profile show them within a few minutes.
- Choose a longer date range, or clear the filters.
"Comparison needs more history than your plan's … covers for this range." Pick a shorter range, or upgrade for a longer history.
"Some data failed to load — tap Refresh to retry." Click Refresh charts.
"Daily export limit reached. Resets at midnight UTC." Try again after midnight UTC.
