Images and uploads

You can upload your own files in several places in QRForge:

  • Image, Image gallery and Logo blocks on a landing page
  • the Audio block on a landing page
  • the Brand Logo in a QR code's design
  • the Cover image of a trail

Supported files

KindFormatsMaximum size
ImagesPNG, JPEG, GIF50 MB
AudioMP3, M4A25 MB (about 20 minutes)

The Brand Logo of a QR code accepts PNG and JPEG.

Other formats, such as WebP, HEIC (iPhone photos), SVG or PDF, are not accepted. Save the file as PNG or JPEG first. Most photo apps and image editors have an "Export" or "Save as" option for this.

Upload an image to a landing page

  1. In the Page Builder, add an Image block (or click an existing one).
  2. Click Tap to upload an image.
  3. Choose a file from your computer or phone.
  4. Wait for "Image uploaded".
  5. Add a Caption and the alt text if you like.
  6. Click Save.

For an Image gallery, click Add to upload several images, up to 9. Tap a thumbnail to replace an image, and use the arrows to change the order.

Tips for good images

  • Make them smaller before uploading. Your visitors are on phones, often on mobile data. An image about 1,600 pixels wide is plenty for a landing page. Smaller files load faster.
  • Use JPEG for photos and PNG for logos and graphics with text.
  • Use your own images, or images you have the right to use.
  • Fill in the alt text. It describes the image to people who cannot see it, and to search engines.

What happens to files you replace or remove

Files that nothing uses any more are removed by a weekly clean-up. Files uploaded in the last 30 days are always kept. The 30 days count from when the file was uploaded, not from when you replaced it, so an older file can be removed within days of being replaced or removed. Keep your own copy of any file you may need again.

Files that are still used on a page, QR code or trail are never removed.

Troubleshooting

"This file isn't a PNG, JPEG or GIF image" The file is in another format, or its name ends in .png but it is really another format. Open it in an image editor and save it as PNG or JPEG.

"This file is larger than 50 MB" Make the image smaller. Reduce its size in pixels, or save it as JPEG with a lower quality.

"This file isn't an MP3 or M4A audio file" Convert the audio to MP3 or M4A first.

"This audio file is larger than 25 MB (about 20 minutes)" Shorten the recording, or use a lower quality setting when you export it.

"Upload failed — please try again" Check your internet connection and try again. Large files on a slow connection can take a while. Stay on the page until the upload finishes.

"Please upload an image before saving." The Image block needs an image. Upload one, or remove the block.

The image looks blurry The original is too small. Upload a larger version, at least as wide as it will appear on screen.
