Page settings and SEO

Page settings control how your landing page looks as a whole and how it appears in browser tabs, search engines and link previews.

Open Page settings

  1. Open the page in the Page Builder.
  2. Click Page settings at the top.
  3. Change what you need.
  4. Click Save settings. You see "Page settings saved."

The settings

Page title (shown in the browser tab) The name of the page. It appears in the browser tab, in bookmarks, and in search results. New pages start with the QR code's name. Keep it short and clear, for example Lunch menu – Example Café.

Meta description (up to 160 chars) One or two sentences about the page. Search engines often show this under the title. Example: Our lunch menu, served Monday to Friday from 12:00 to 15:00.

OG title (social cards) The title shown in link previews when someone shares the page in a chat app or on social media. It overrides the Page title on those cards only. Leave it empty to let the app use the page title.

OG description The text shown under the title in link previews. Leave it empty to let the app use the Meta description.

OG image URL (https://…) The web address of the picture shown in link previews. Use a full address starting with https://, for example an image on your own website.

Canonical URL (https://…, optional) Only needed if the same content also lives on your own website. Enter that address so search engines treat it as the main version. It must start with https://. Leave it empty if you are not sure.

Page language Sets the language of the published page. For Arabic, Hebrew, Persian and Urdu it also makes the page read from right to left. This does not translate your text. Write the content in the language you choose.

Accent colour — buttons and links. Background colour — behind the page. Text colour — headings and body text. Leave a colour blank to use the QRForge default. Choose colours with good contrast, so the page is easy to read outdoors on a phone.

Allow search engines to index this page Off by default. When it is off, search engines such as Google are asked not to list the page. Turn it on if you want people to find the page by searching.

When someone shares your page's link in a chat app or on social media, the app may show a preview. Link previews keep working whether or not search engines may index the page.

The preview uses the OG title (social cards), OG description and OG image URL. When the OG title or OG description is empty, most apps show the Page title and Meta description instead, so fill those in too. Without an OG image URL, the preview has no picture chosen by you.

Good practice

  • Fill in the title and description for every published page.
  • Turn on indexing only for pages meant for the public. A page for hotel guests or staff can stay hidden from search engines.
  • Remember the page lives at the QR code's address, for example https://qrforge.link/r/..., or on your custom domain.

Troubleshooting

"… must start with https:// — leave it empty to …" The OG image URL or Canonical URL must start with https://. Fix it or leave it empty.

My page does not appear in Google

  • Check that Allow search engines to index this page is on, and saved.
  • Search engines can take days or weeks to list a new page.
  • A page that is not published cannot be listed.

My page still appears in search results after I turned indexing off Search engines remove pages on their own schedule. This can take a few weeks.
