Archive a project
Archiving a project switches off all the QR codes in it at once. QRForge keeps the project, its codes and all their analytics. You can restore the project at any time, and the codes work again.
Before you archive
Read this first:
- Every code in the project stops working. People who scan them see a page saying "This code is no longer active".
- Landing pages and trails in the project stop too. A landing page opens only through its QR code, so it stops with the code. Trail links show "This trail is no longer active."
- A custom domain stays connected to the project, but nothing on it works while the project is archived. It still counts towards your plan's custom domain limit. You cannot connect a new domain to an archived project.
- The codes still count towards your plan's QR code limit while the project is archived. To free up places, archive individual QR codes instead. See Archive and restore QR codes.
- The Default Project cannot be archived. You see "Archiving the Default Project is not allowed."
Archive a project
- In the left menu, click Projects.
- On the project's row, click Archive project.
- The Archive Project window tells you how many active QR codes will stop working. Read it carefully.
- Click Archive.
If you archived the project you were working in, QRForge switches you to your Default Project.
Restore a project
- In the left menu, click Projects.
- On the archived project's row, click Restore project.
- Click Restore.
All QR codes in the project work again straight away, with their saved destinations, and so do its landing pages, trails and custom domain. Codes that you archived one by one stay archived.
When to archive a project, and when not to
Archive a project when:
- a campaign or event is completely over, or
- you stop working with a client and want all their codes switched off.
Do not archive a project when:
- you only want to stop a few codes — archive those codes instead;
- you need room for new codes — archiving a project does not free places.
Troubleshooting
"Could not archive project. Please try again." / "Could not restore project. Please try again." Check your internet connection and try again.
"Project archived, but your Default Project couldn't be opened." The project was archived. Choose a project from the Projects window at the top of the left menu.
My codes still don't work after restoring the project Check each code in My QRs. A code that you archived on its own needs to be restored on its own. See Archive and restore QR codes.
