Change where a QR code points
You can change the destination or content of a QR code at any time. You do not need to reprint it. The printed code stays the same, and the next scan goes to the new destination.
Change the content
- In the left menu, click My QRs.
- Find the code. You can use Search QR codes….
- On its row, click Edit QR code (the pencil button). The QR Code Preview screen opens.
- Click Edit Content.
- Make your change. For example:
- for a Website URL code, change the Destination URL;
- for a Phone Number code, change the Phone Number;
- for a Wi-Fi code, change the network name or password.
- You can also change the QR Code Name here.
- Click Save Changes.
The change is live straight away. Scan the code to check it.
Landing Page codes
A Landing Page code always opens its own landing page. To change what people see, edit the page instead:
- Open the code as described above.
- In QR Page Content, click Edit page.
- Make your changes in the Page Builder and save.
Good reasons to change a destination
- Swap a seasonal offer for a new one, without new posters.
- Point a product label to an updated manual.
- Fix a typo in a web address you already printed.
- Send people to a "sold out" or "coming soon" page for a while.
What you cannot change
- The type. A Website URL code stays a Website URL code. To use another type, create a new code.
- A Wi-Fi code set to "Connect to the network". The network details are stored in the printed code itself. See QR code types explained.
- The printed address. Each QR code image keeps the web address it was
created with (for example
qrforge.link/...or your custom domain). Changing the destination never changes the image.
Change the destination by device, country or time
On the Pro plan and above, a Website URL code can send different people to different pages. For example, iPhone users to the App Store and Android users to Google Play. See Conditional redirection.
Troubleshooting
The old page still opens after I saved
- Check that you clicked Save Changes and saw no error.
- Some phones reopen a page they visited before. Close the browser tab and scan the code again.
- If the code has conditional redirection rules, a rule may send this scan to another address. Check the rules.
