Entry QR code and printing
Every trail can have an entry QR code. It opens the trail's overview page, with the list of stops and a Start trail button. It is the best starting point for visitors.
Put the entry QR code where the trail begins: at the entrance, on a sign, on a flyer, on a ticket, or on your website.
The stops have their own QR codes. Print those at each stop. See Download and print.
Generate and download the entry QR code
- In the left menu, click Trails.
- On the trail's row, click Download entry QR code. The Entry QR Code window opens.
- The first time, click Generate QR Code. You see Generating your QR code… for a few seconds.
- Click Download PNG or Download SVG.
Generating the entry QR code uses one place in your plan's QR code limit, like any other active QR code.
Design the entry QR code
- Open the trail in the trail editor.
- Under Entry QR design, click Customize. The Customize Entry QR window opens.
- Change the Foreground Color, Background Color, Corner Style, Module Style or Brand Logo, as for any QR code. See Design your QR code.
- Click Apply. QRForge saves the design and makes a new entry QR image.
- Open Download entry QR code again to download the new image.
As with other QR codes, the logo is included in the PNG download only.
Which address does the entry QR code use?
The entry QR code uses your project's address: your
custom domain if the project
has an active one, otherwise qrforge.link. The address is fixed when the
image is generated.
If you add a custom domain later, wait until it shows Active, then click Regenerate and print the new image. The new image uses your custom domain. Codes you printed earlier keep their old address.
Printing tips
- Make the entry code large and easy to see. It is the first thing visitors scan.
- Add a short call to action next to it, for example Scan to start the Old Town Walking Tour.
- Leave an empty margin around the code and keep the contrast high.
- Test the printed code with two phones before you print many.
How entry scans are counted
Scans of the entry QR code appear in the trail's Funnel, as "… arrived by scanning the entry QR". See Trail analytics and the funnel.
Troubleshooting
"You have reached the maximum number of active QR codes allowed." The entry QR code needs a free place in your plan. Archive a QR code you no longer use, or add more QR codes. See Plans and what's included.
"Generation failed." / "Unexpected error. Please try again." Wait a moment and try again. If it keeps failing, contact support.
"Download is only available in the web app." Open QRForge in a web browser to download the file.
Scanning the entry code says the trail is not active The trail is archived. Restore it in Trails.
