Trail troubleshooting

Find your problem below. If it is not listed, see the general Troubleshooting page or contact support.

Building the trail

I can't find my landing page when I click Add stop

  • Stops must be Landing Page QR codes. Website URL and other types cannot be stops.
  • The code must be in the same project as the trail. Switch to the right project before you create the trail.
  • The list shows only your 100 most recent page codes, and Search QR codes… searches only those. If the code you want is older, rename it or create the stop from the QR list.

"This trail isn't linked to a project, so pages can't be added to it." This can happen with older trails. Contact support@qrforge.link and we will link it to a project.

"You've reached the maximum of 50 trails on your plan." Your plan sets how many trails you can have: 50 on Pro, 250 on Agency and 500 on Enterprise. Archived trails still count. Delete trails you no longer need, or upgrade.

I can't add more stops A trail can have up to 50 stops. Split a long route into two trails.

"You don't have permission to edit this trail." You are signed in to a different account than the one that created the trail.

"Save failed — please try again." Check your internet connection and click Save again.

What visitors see

A stop shows a placeholder The stop's QR code is archived, or no longer exists. The trail editor shows a warning on that stop. Restore the code in My QRs, or remove the stop.

Scanning a stop shows "Choose a Trail" That landing page is a stop on more than one active trail, so QRForge lets the visitor pick. To avoid this, use each landing page on one trail only, or archive the trails you no longer use.

Scanning a stop opens the page without the trail controls

  • The trail is archived. Restore it in Trails.
  • Your plan no longer includes trails. The page still opens, without the trail. Check your plan on the Subscription page.
  • The visitor chose View just this location in the trail picker.

The trail link shows "This trail is no longer active." The trail is archived, or your plan no longer includes trails.

The completion button does nothing on the last stop The completion reward only becomes active once the visitor has opened every other stop on the same phone and browser. This stops people skipping straight to the reward.

A visitor lost their progress Progress is saved in the visitor's browser. It is lost if they switch phones or browsers, use a private window, or clear their browsing data.

There is no route map or distance Add locations to your stops. The map needs at least two located stops. See Stops and locations.

The "Part of a trail" card appears on a stop page When someone opens a stop for the first time, a small card says it is part of a trail and offers See all stops. Visitors can close it. It does not appear again once they have visited another stop of the trail.

Analytics

The funnel shows zero after testing Trail numbers update once a night. Check again tomorrow.

The numbers are higher than the number of visitors On qrforge.link, every page open counts as a new visitor. See Trail analytics and the funnel.

"Completed" is higher than I expected Completed counts everyone who opened the last stop, even if they skipped other stops.

Plans

"Trails are available on the Pro plan and above." Trails need an active trial or paid plan. See Plans and what's included.

My trail stopped working after the free trial ended When a free trial ends without a subscription, trails stop working and their links show that the trail is not active. Subscribe before the deletion date to switch them on again. See When the trial ends.
