What trails are
A trail joins several QR codes into one guided route. Each place on the route is a stop. Visitors scan the code at each stop, see that stop's landing page, and are guided to the next one. At the end they can get a reward, such as a discount or a review link.
Trails are available on the Pro plan and above.
Examples
- A walking tour of an old town, with a stop at each building.
- A museum or gallery visit, with a stop at each artwork.
- A wine route or food trail across several businesses.
- A treasure hunt for a festival or a shopping centre.
- A farm, park or campus visit with information points.
How a trail is built
- Each stop is a Landing Page QR code from the same project. You build the stop's content in the Page Builder, as for any landing page.
- The trail puts those stops in order, and adds a name, description, cover image, colour and a completion message.
- The trail also gets its own entry QR code. It opens the trail's overview page, a good starting point at an entrance or on a flyer.

What visitors see
The overview page shows the trail's name, cover image and description, the list of stops, and the total distance and walking time when the stops have locations. A Start trail button leads to the first stop. When stops have locations, there is also a Route link and, with two or more located stops, a small route map.
Each stop page shows the stop's landing page with trail controls around it: Stop 2 of 6, Previous, Next with the next stop's name, Directions to the next stop with an estimated walking time, and See all stops.
Progress. The visitor's phone remembers which stops they have visited. The overview page then shows Continue instead of Start trail, and ticks off visited stops. Progress is stored in the visitor's browser only. It does not follow them to another phone or browser.
Completion. When the visitor has opened every stop, they see Trail completed with your completion message. If you added a Completion link, the message becomes a button, for example Claim your 10% discount at the front desk!
A stop on more than one trail
A landing page can be a stop on several trails. When someone scans its code, QRForge asks them to Choose a Trail. They can also choose View just this location to see the page without a trail.
Limits
- Up to 50 stops per trail.
- Up to 50 trails on Pro, 250 on Agency and 500 on Enterprise. Archived trails count too.
